The state government has restructured the physical examination procedures for direct recruitment in the Lok Rakshak Dal for various cadres.

In this overhaul, the candidates previously earning marks through a running test will require a minimum amount of time to complete it.

Previously, the weight of the candidates was also measured, the practice of which has also been abolished.

Bypassing these physical tests only on a qualifying basis the time and not the marks, the candidates will be able to proceed further to the next round of objective MCQ tests.

Changes in written examination

With the exemption of the marking system in the physical examination, the candidates will now give a three-hour-long paper for 200 marks. This paper will be divided into sections A and B, and a minimum score of 40% will be required in these sections to pass the exam.

Section A will include:

Logic and data interpretation (30 marks)

Quantitative aptitude (30 marks)

Gujarati language proficiency (20 marks)

Section B will include:

Constitution of India (30 marks)

Current affairs, science and technology, general knowledge (40 marks)

History of Gujarat and India, cultural heritage, and geography (50 marks)

The final recruitment shall be based on the marks in the MCQ test, along with the surplus marks.

Earlier, along with the marks gained in the physical exam, candidates were given a two-hour-long MCQ paper for 100 marks.

Along with the structure, several topics, including psychology, sociology, IPC, CrPC, and the Evidence Act, among others, are to be scrapped in the new format.

Revision in extra marks system

In another alteration to the process, the earlier methodology to grant extra marks only to the candidates completing courses from Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) has been changed. Now the candidates who have taken up courses from the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) will also be granted extra marks.

Candidates will not gain marks as per their results but as per the tenure of their course.

Marks over the tenure of the course:

1 year - 3 marks

2 years - 5 marks

3 years - 8 marks

4+ years - 10 marks
