Six dead after private bus rams into dumper near Bhavnagar

Accidents in Gujarat are seeing an alarming rise with the onset of winter. Yet another accident occurred on the Bhavnagar-Somnath Highway, claiming six lives during the wee hours of Tuesday.

A private bus travelling from Surat to Rajula (Amreli) on the Bhavnagar-Somnath Highway, a section of National Highway 8E (NH-8E) crashed into a stationary dumper parked on the side of the road.

The accident took the lives of six passengers onboard the bus and over 15 people were seriously injured. The injured were rushed to Sir Takhtasinhji General Hospital in Bhavnagar for treatment.  The number of deceased is expected to increase as some passengers are severely injured.

The accident was so severe that one side of the bus was completely crushed. The bodies were retrieved by cutting through the panels of the bus. Currently, the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. On the other hand, the local police have launched an investigation into the accident.

Just a day ago, a city bus hit a young girl, killing her on the spot in Amroli, Surat. 

On the same day, a retired Indian Army man succumbed to injuries in Magdalla in Surat on Sunday. 

Last week, a collision between a private bus and a government bus injured over 15 passengers on the Amlakhadi bridge near Ankleshwar on NH 48
