Acting on a tip-off received during a night patrol, a team from the Sabarmati police station raided Vinviks Cafe, located on the S.P. Ring Road opposite Hotel Hillock, behind the Nayara petrol pump near Tragad.

According to the police, the cafe was allegedly being operated by Vineetbhai Narendrabhai Rathod (37), a businessman currently residing in Jagatpur area of Ahmedabad and originally from Rajkot district.

Hookahs and tobacco products seized

During the raid, officers allegedly found two hookahs in operation and ready to be served to customers. A subsequent search led to the seizure of:

  • 21 hookahs valued at ₹21,000
  • Nine boxes of flavoured tobacco worth ₹13,500
  • Silver foil, clay chillums, coal, fresh hookah pipes and filter pipes collectively valued at ₹3,100
