Armed Robbers Snatch Cooking Oil Cans from Moving Vehicle Near Jamalpur

Two unidentified men allegedly climbed onto a slow-moving pickup, threatened two brothers with a knife and fled with two 15-litre edible oil cans worth ₹5,500 in Ahmedabad.

Robbery during traffic congestion

Two unidentified men allegedly threatened a pair of brothers with a knife and robbed them of two 15-litre cans of edible oil worth ₹5,500 after climbing onto their moving pickup vehicle near Jamalpur Bridge in the early hours of Wednesday, police said.

According to Gaekwad Haveli Police, the incident took place at around 5.40 am on July 29 when Pritesh Baldevbhai Rana (21) and his brother, Dhruvil, were transporting grocery goods from Narol to Chandkheda in their Bolero pickup for business purposes.

Police said the vehicle was loaded with grocery items, including edible oil cans. As the pickup moved slowly through traffic on the public road near Shifa Hospital under the Jamalpur Bridge, where vegetable-laden vehicles had caused congestion, the accused allegedly took advantage of the situation.

Knife threat and escape

Pritesh noticed through the side window that two unknown men had climbed onto the rear of the pickup and were unloading oil cans from the vehicle. When the brothers got down and attempted to stop them, the suspects allegedly brandished a knife, threatened them and fled with two 15-litre cans of edible oil.

The stolen property has been valued at approximately ₹5,500.

Police launch investigation

Following the incident, the complainant alerted the Police Control Room, after which a police team reached the spot. An FIR has been registered against two unidentified accused on charges of armed robbery, and an investigation has been launched.

Police said efforts are under way to identify the suspects through local enquiries and by examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
