Vadodara Schools and Colleges to Remain Close on July 31 Due to Heavy Rain Warning by IMD

The Collector and District Magistrate Office of Vadodara has ordered the closure of all educational institutions across the district on Friday, July 31, 2026. The decision follows a “Red Alert” issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across several parts of Gujarat, including Vadodara district.

All educational institutions covered under closure order

To prevent any untoward incidents due to severe weather, all academic activities will remain suspended for the day at:

Anganwadis
Primary schools
Secondary and higher secondary schools
Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs)
Colleges

IMD issues red alert for multiple Gujarat districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rain and thundershowers across Gujarat over the next seven days.

A red alert has been issued for Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Narmada, Surat, Tapi and Dang districts. The weather department has warned of severe waterlogging, flooding in low-lying areas, traffic disruptions and the possibility of flash floods in vulnerable locations.

Order issued under BNSS, violations to invite action

The order was issued by District Magistrate Anil Dhameliya (IAS) under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. It applies to both urban areas and all talukas of Vadodara district.

Authorities have stated that any violation of the notification will attract penal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
