Rupala undeterred, Kshatriya women ready for self-immolation

Updated: Apr 6th, 2024

The controversy engulfing Parshottam Rupala has persisted through numerous twists and turns, showing no signs of subsiding.

While the agitation against Rupala prevails among the Kshatriya community, the politician is undeterred by the backlash.

On the stage of an event organised in Amreli, Rupala asks the public to wear a turban and accompany him on the day of candidate registration.

“In a day or two, I will announce the date for filling out the form (candidate nomination form), and then you all have to come wearing a turban.” Rupala has given a clear direction that he will contest the election from Rajkot itself, and there is no consideration of changing her candidature.

Kshatriya women’s agony

Meanwhile, to make matters worse for the BJP leader, some Rajput women have decided to opt for self-immolation (Johar) outside the Kamalam headquarters today if their demands are not met.

Police security has amped up, followed by the threat of Kshatriya women’s announcement at Kamalam, and the authorities have also planned ‘house arrest’ to control the situation.

Kshatriya community women Pragnaba Zala and Chetnaba Jadeja in Ahmedabad said, “Rupala has insulted women of the Kshatriya community, which will not be compromised.”

On the contrary, Kshatriya woman leader Dakshaba Sisodiya from Rajkot has appealed to the Kshatriya women to not take this step, as such steps have been taken as a last resort, but Kshatriya women have the support of men and women in the community across the state.

According to reports, Rupala has vacated his house in Rajkot amid the controversy and has shifted to live in a flat. Moreover, the security has also been withdrawn.
