Devbhumi Dwarka Police Hoist Tricolour On 15 Remote Islands For Unique Independence Day Celebration

The Tricolour was hoisted on 15 remote and isolated islands in Gujarat’s Devbhumi Dwarka district on Independence Day, in a unique celebration organised by the police department in the state’s geographically sensitive coastal region.

Police teams travelled to several inland and offshore islands on August 15 despite restrictions on movement in the area, ensuring that the national flag was unfurled even in some of the district’s most remote locations.

Tricolour hoisted amid security restrictions

Devbhumi Dwarka has 22 islands, several of which are uninhabited. Movement in the area is strictly restricted without prior permission from the competent authority due to security and border-related concerns.

Despite the difficult terrain and restrictions, special teams of police officers and personnel stationed along the maritime borders reached the islands to conduct Independence Day programmes.

In populated areas of the islands, police personnel hoisted the Tricolour alongside local villagers.

National anthem sung on coastal islands

The flag-hoisting ceremonies were followed by the national anthem, with police personnel and villagers joining in the celebrations.

The events created a patriotic atmosphere across the coastal belt, with the police department’s initiative bringing Independence Day celebrations to communities and people living in some of the district’s remotest areas.

The initiative also highlighted the role of police personnel deployed along Gujarat’s maritime borders, who marked the 80th Independence Day while carrying out their duties in geographically challenging and security-sensitive locations.
