Rupala controversy new turn: Kathi Kshatriya community comes in solidarity

Updated: Apr 13th, 2024

While the protests of the Kshatriya community against Parshottam Rupala continue across Gujarat, the controversy has meandered as a sect in the Kshatriya community in the Kathiawar peninsula, Kathi Kshatriya, comes in solidarity with the BJP and Rupala.

The Akhil Bharatiya Kathi Kshatriya Samaj in Rajkot extended their support to the saffron party and Rupala on Apr 12, according to reports.

Despite their statement, Kathi Kshtriyas across Gujarat seem to face a dilemma.

The Kathi community from Rajula-Jafrabad, Botad, Dhari, and Surendranagar stands with the Kshatriya community and does not second the Kathi Kshatriya community's decision in Rajkot.

Tension across the state

Despite tight security at an event in Jamnagar involving state BJP president CR Patil, Kshatriyas tried to storm in and destroy the event. However, the crowd was detained by the police.

Meanwhile, Rupala’s effigy was burned in Machhiwad village of Jamnagar’s Kalavad taluka by the Kshatriya community.

Agitated Kshatriyas in Jetpur also vehemently opposed Rupala.

The opposition prevailed in Junagadh, Visavadar, Bhensan, Keshod, Mendarda, Surat, and Porbandar.

Jaydeepsinh Maharana, Thakor of Dahej, also demanded Rupala's withdrawal of his candidature.
