Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s expected visit to Nadiad led to an overnight transformation of the city roads on August 3. However, the patchwork did not last long.

The roads were back to their damaged condition by the next morning.

On receiving information  that CM Patel and Governor Acharya Devvrat would be visiting Nadiad on August 15, Independence Day, road repairs were initiated overnight.

The work was completed late on August 3. But the roads were washed away by the next morning.

BJP MLA Pankaj Desai had recently stated that due to closure of the asphalt plant and the monsoon, road repairs would not be carried out. On the contrary, repair work was initiated immediately upon receiving news of the CM’s visit.

Commuters have been facing a torrid time tackling the potholes on the Vaniyavad road. The roads were repaired keeping in mind the chief minister and governor’s visit to Nadiad from August 13 to 15.

The administration, awakened from slumber, is scrambling to beautify Nadiad, the rain has thwarted their efforts, leaving the administration in a quandary.

Vivek Singh Jame, deputy executive engineer of the Roads and Buildings (State) department, Nadiad division, stated that milling work for patching and full-depth repair of roads is underway in the city area. Considering the weather conditions, manual patching with asphalt will be done.
