Newly built roads worth ₹3 crore deteriorate within months in Gujarat’s Nadiad

Updated: Jul 18th, 2024

Roads built with ₹3.14 crore in Kheda’s Nadiad are now reportedly dilapidated ahead of monsoon.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Nadiad MLA Pankaj Desai inaugurated 14 roads which were completed on Mar 11, 2024. The materials and labour were managed by Nadiad Municipality.

Construction of 14 roads was completed in March at the cost of ₹2,83,64,300 (₹2.83 crore) in wards 4,8,9,11,12, and 13.

Out of these 14 roads, 11 are showing signs of damage. Reports suggest that the municipality directly constructed the roads worth crores, without assigning a contractor.

Municipality president Kinnari Shah, chief officer Rudresh Hudal, and city engineer Chandresh Gandhi have been accused of being involved in the construction of substandard roads.
