Right to education: How to apply for free education in Gujarat?

The Gujarat government has rolled out the online form process for admission under the Right to Education (RTE) for the academic year 2024–25 today.

The last date to apply is midnight on Mar 26, 2024.

Under Section 12(1) of the Right of Children Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009, private and special category schools will also have to reserve 25% of seats in class 1 for children from weaker and disadvantaged groups (schedule caste, schedule tribe, and other backward classes).

RTE admission eligibility

-Children born between June 1, 2018 and May 31, 2019.

-Children who are residents of Gujarat.

-Children whose annual family income is less than ₹1,00,000.

How to apply for the RTE form in Gujarat online?

Parents need to register online on the official website, https://rte.orpgujarat.com/

Parents will have to upload scanned copies of the required documents. After filling out the form, parents can take a printout of it. However, the online form does not need to be submitted anywhere.

Documents required for RTE form

Birth certificate of the child

Residence proof (Aadhaar Card, electricity bill, water bill)

Caste and income certificate 

A passport-size photograph of the child
