QR payment possible in ST buses after digital payments fetch ₹30 crore for GSRTC

Government of Gujarat has initiated the facility of payment through QR code in Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) buses. In the first phase, more than 3,000 Android ticketing machines have been started in 1,850 buses of Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Jamnagar, and Junagadh divisions.
The corporation, which operates an estimated more than 8,500 buses per day, is moving towards cashless service.
The smart electronic ticketing machines were installed last year itself. GSRTC is generating an income of ₹13 lakh daily by transacting with an average of 15,000 passengers through digital means.
More than 37 lakh passengers have generated an income of more than ₹30.53 crore last year. Now, passengers will be able to get tickets through digital transactions through QR in the ticketing machine inside the bus itself.
In the first phase, QR-based payments have been started in 3,000 smart electronic ticket machines of four divisions. In which passengers can buy their tickets from their phone or through credit card and debit card.
If for any reason the passenger’s transaction is canceled, then refund will be executed within an hour.
