One more teacher fled to US without NOC in Banaskantha

Updated: Aug 12th, 2024

Yet another teacher at Suthar Nesdi School in Bhabhar, Banaskantha has been stationed abroad for the last 10 months without an NOC (No Objection Certificate) and is on unpaid leave.

According to reports, Vipul Patel, who had been working as a Mathematics and Science teacher at the Suthar Nesdi School for the last seven years, went on unpaid leave without an NOC from June 1, 2023, and is reported to have gone to the US.

The school principal, Vashram Makwana, notified the Bhabhar Taluka Education Officer (TEO) in writing within a month and requested the recruitment of another teacher.

Since Patel went on unpaid leave, a knowledge assistant teacher was recruited to continue the students’ education.

Meanwhile, Patel reportedly informed another teacher of the school that he wouldn't be able to return to India as he went to the US illegally.

The Bhabhar TEO sent two notices to Patel’s home two months ago, but no response was received.

An investigation was initiated in Gandhinagar for teachers who have been absent for a long time and are residing abroad. As part of this, orders have been given for an investigation into both government primary and secondary schools, as well as government-aided schools.

The officials have mobilised the administration to review old files in all four talukas, and legal action will be taken if discrepancies are found.

On the other hand, the District Education Officer (DEO) of Banaskantha claimed to have dismissed 33 teachers for various reasons in the last 4 years.
