The National Students Union of India (NSUI) staged a black flag protest against Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan during his visit to the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad on Thursday, alleging irregularities and mismanagement in the NEET examination process.

The protest was held over allegations of discrepancies in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), with the NSUI claiming that the future of lakhs of aspirants has been jeopardised due to irregularities and lack of transparency in the examination system.

In a statement issued ahead of the demonstration, the protesting students said, “Stop playing with the future of students,” while demanding justice for NEET aspirants and a transparent examination mechanism.

NSUI further alleged that students had been subjected to injustice because of irregularities and administrative lapses during the examination process. Protesters gathered with black flags outside the venue as a mark of dissent against the Centre’s handling of the issue.

The organisers also asserted that the voices of students and youth “cannot be suppressed” and called for accountability from the authorities concerned.

The NEET controversy has triggered protests in several parts of the country in recent weeks, with students and opposition groups raising concerns over alleged paper leaks, irregularities and examination mismanagement.
