NSUI protests near Gujarat University over alleged NEET paper leak, irregularities

Members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest near Gujarat University on Wednesday against the alleged irregularities and paper leak controversy surrounding the NEET examination, accusing the National Testing Agency (NTA) of jeopardising the future of lakhs of students across the country.

Led by Gujarat NSUI president Narendra Solanki, the demonstration witnessed students carrying banners and raising slogans against the NTA. Protesters also symbolically took out a funeral procession of the examination agency, expressing outrage over repeated allegations of paper leaks and irregularities in national-level entrance examinations.

The student body alleged that the recent controversy linked to the NEET examination had caused grave injustice to nearly 2.2 million students who appeared for the test nationwide. NSUI leaders claimed that repeated incidents of examination malpractice reflected the failure of the current system to safeguard students’ interests.

During the protest, police detained more than 20 NSUI workers, including the state president, officials said.

The organisation demanded strict action against all those allegedly involved in the paper leak scandal and called for an immediate ban on the NTA over what it described as “corrupt policies”. The protesters also demanded that the Union Education Minister resign, taking moral responsibility for the controversy.

Speaking during the protest, Chirag Darji said the issue was not merely about a paper leak, but about the future of students being compromised.

“This is not just a paper leak incident. The government is playing with the future of children. Such controversies continue to emerge repeatedly in NEET examinations, yet the NTA fails to take the necessary action. Parents work day and night to pay fees for their children’s education, but the government is not giving them anything in return,” Darji alleged.

He further demanded stringent action against those responsible for the alleged irregularities, stating that students and parents across the country were losing faith in the examination system due to repeated controversies.
