North Gujarat Drenched as Heavy Rain Batters Several Districts; Over 38,600 Shifted to Safety Across Gujarat

Heavy rainfall continued to lash parts of Gujarat on Thursday, with North Gujarat recording the highest downpour during the morning hours, while rescue and relief operations remained in full swing across flood-hit districts. More than 38,653 people have been shifted to safer locations, and over 5,547 stranded residents have been rescued as authorities intensified emergency response measures.

Deodar, Bhabhar among worst-hit

Between 6 am and 12 noon on July 24, Deodar in the Vav-Tharad district recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 171 mm (6.73 inches), followed by Bhabhar with 165 mm (6.50 inches). Other heavily affected talukas included:

Radhanpur (Patan): 133 mm (5.24 inches)

Mehmedabad (Kheda): 131 mm (5.16 inches)

Santalpur (Patan): 125 mm (4.92 inches)

Dhansura (Aravalli): 103 mm (4.06 inches)

Lilia (Amreli): 93 mm (3.66 inches)

Thousands shifted, rescue operations continue

According to the state administration:

38,653 people have been evacuated to safer locations.

5,547 stranded people have been rescued from flood-affected areas.

Rescue operations are continuing in several districts as heavy rainfall and flooding affect normal life.

Coast Guard, NDRF, SDRF and Army deployed

The Indian Coast Guard is carrying out aerial surveys in Navsari, Valsad and Tapi districts, while rescue operations are underway in flood-hit Bilimora and Gandevi, where people remain stranded in inundated areas.

To strengthen emergency response, 49 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed across Gujarat.

The Indian Army has also deployed six teams—two each in Ahmedabad, Navsari and Valsad—to assist civil authorities in rescue and relief operations.

Authorities have urged residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to remain alert and follow official advisories as rainfall continues across several parts of the state.
