AMC completes major preparations for Ahmedabad Rath Yatra

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has almost completed all preparations for the world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath. Special arrangements have been made to ensure the yatra is safe, clean, and well-organized along the 13-kilometre route.

AMC has carried out road repairs, drainage cleaning, health services, lighting arrangements, fire safety measures, and cleanliness drives before the Rath Yatra. A special control room will also operate on the day of the yatra.

Arrangements for drinking water will be made at the water points constructed on the route before the Rath Yatra. A special control room will also be functional at the Municipal Corporation compound on the day of the rath Yatra.

The Engineering Department has repaired roads and footpaths on different parts of the route. Drainage lines in Jamalpur, Khadia, Kalupur, and Shahpur have been cleaned to avoid waterlogging. Drinking water facilities will also be available throughout the yatra.

To ensure public safety, the Estate Department has placed warning notices on 633 dangerous houses located along the route. AMC staff and police personnel will be deployed near these buildings to prevent people from gathering there. Barricades will also be installed around unsafe structures.

For medical emergencies, the Health Department will deploy seven mobile medical vans, 15 doctors, and around 100 healthcare workers. Urban Health Centres in Jamalpur, Raikhad, Shahpur, and Kalupur will remain operational during the event.

The Light Department has inspected 745 electric poles and maintained power systems along the route. Around 560 additional floodlights will be installed, while 11 diesel generators will provide backup power. AMC and Torrent Power technical teams will remain on duty.

The Fire Department has deployed 203 personnel, including 183 firefighters from 11 fire stations. Fire officers and emergency teams will remain alert until the Rath Yatra concludes.

AMC’s Solid Waste Management Department has planned a large-scale cleanliness drive. Hundreds of sanitation workers will be deployed, and roads will be cleaned using sweeping machines. Special efforts will be made to keep the route free from garbage.

Ten mobile toilet vans and five additional toilet vans will be placed at important locations along the route. Special vehicles will also be used for quick waste collection and disposal after the yatra.

In the North Zone area, AMC has issued 135 notices regarding unsafe buildings and structures. Property owners have been asked to repair or secure dangerous parts of their buildings before the Rath Yatra.

AMC officials said all departments are working together to ensure that devotees can participate in the Rath Yatra safely, smoothly, and comfortably.
