A man who climbed a tree in Ahmedabad’s Jamalpur area on Saturday and allegedly threatened to jump was rescued by the fire brigade after a 45-minute operation, officials said.

According to eyewitnesses, the unidentified man climbed the tree in a busy locality of Jamalpur, drawing a large crowd of onlookers amid fears that he intended to leap from the height.

The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. Fire personnel used a crane to reach the man and safely brought him down after prolonged efforts.

Police later took the individual into custody for questioning.

Officials said the motive behind the act was not immediately clear, and further inquiry is under way.
