A man was booked by Ramol police for allegedly stabbing his father during a heated argument at the family’s cloth shop in Ahmedabad’s Ramol area.

As per the complaint filed by Kamlaben Mohanji Khatik, 58, the incident took place on May 11 at their cloth shop in Ramrajya Nagar.

Police said the accused, identified as Raju alias Vandaro Mohanji Khatik, had allegedly arrived at the shop while speaking on the phone with his brother-in-law. The complainant alleged that when she and her husband objected to his son's behaviour, he became aggressive.

According to police, the accused allegedly pushed his mother to the ground, following which his father, Mohanji Khatik, intervened and questioned his actions.

Police said the accused then allegedly attacked his father with a knife, inflicting injuries to the left side of his chest. The complainant further alleged that the accused threatened to kill both his parents if they interfered in his matters in future before fleeing from the spot.

The injured man was initially taken to L G Hospital in a 108 ambulance and was later shifted to Civil Hospital Ahmedabad for further treatment, where he remains under medical care.

The accused and his wife are also involved in running a separate cloth business near Ramrajya Nagar crossroads. Police said the accused’s wife had reportedly been staying at her parental home for the past three days before the incident.

An FIR has been registered and further investigation is under way.
