Man booked for allegedly assaulting woman on false promise of marriage

The Vastrapur police have registered a case against a 29-year-old man after a woman accused him of engaging in a long-term sexual relationship with her on the false promise of marriage before allegedly refusing to marry her.
According to Vastrapur police, the accused, identified as Kalpeshbhai Baisane, has been booked following a complaint by a 27-year-old woman employed as a manager at a spa and salon in Navrangpura.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that she first met the accused around three years ago at the Vasna Police Station, following which the two developed a relationship and remained in regular contact over mobile phone.
She stated that the accused allegedly first had physical relations with her on 14 February 2024 at a hotel near Vastrapur Lake, after assuring her that he intended to marry her.
According to police, the accused later arranged accommodation for her in Thaltej, where he frequently visited over the next two years and allegedly maintained physical relations with her repeatedly while continuing to promise marriage.
However, the complainant alleged that over the past two months the accused began distancing himself, stopped taking her calls, and eventually informed her over the phone last week that he would not marry her.
Claiming that she had been deceived and exploited under the false assurance of marriage, the woman approached the police and sought legal action.
Based on the complaint, Vastrapur police have registered an offence against the accused and initiated an investigation.
Police said statements of witnesses, including the complainant’s friend who accompanied her to the police station, will be recorded during the course of the investigation.
