Man alleges assault with baseball bat, threats by neighbours in Isanpur

A 42-year-old autorickshaw driver from Ahmedabad’s Isanpur area has lodged a police complaint alleging that two men assaulted him with a baseball bat, damaged his rickshaw and later pelted stones outside his house while threatening his family.

According to Isanpur police, the incident took place on the night of May 13 in Isanpur area .

Narendrabhai Dhansukhbhai Shrimali, a resident of Isanpur, stated that he was returning home in his autorickshaw after visiting a hospital around 9.15 pm when he briefly stopped near Mukesh Patel Hospital.

At that point, one of the accused, identified as Rutvik Kiranbhai Parmar, allegedly arrived with a baseball bat and, without provocation, struck him twice on the leg, police said.

When the complainant questioned the assault, another accused identified only as Sahil, a resident of Amraiwadi, allegedly caught hold of him from behind while Rutvik continued attacking him with the bat.

According to the complaint, the accused also threatened the complainant, allegedly telling him that they would not spare his family.

Police said local residents gathered at the spot and intervened, preventing further assault. As the complainant attempted to leave in his autorickshaw, the accused allegedly struck the vehicle, with the baseball bat, causing damage.

The complainant later returned home and sought medical treatment for his leg injuries. However, while he was away, his daughter allegedly telephoned him stating that Rutvik, Sahil and two unidentified persons had arrived outside the family residence and were throwing stones near the house.

When he returned home, he allegedly found stones scattered outside the residence, following which the family approached the police.

The complainant has named Rutvik Kiranbhai Parmar and Sahil, while two unidentified persons who have also been booked in connection with the incident. Family members, including the complainant’s wife, daughter and sons-in-law, have been listed as witnesses.
