A 38-year-old man has filed a police complaint alleging that he was assaulted by his fiance’s colleague and three unidentified associates near Ambli in Ahmedabad after confronting the accused over allegedly abusive language used during a phone conversation with his fiancée.

According to Sarkhej police, Krishnavadan Hariprasad Gedia (37), a resident of Applewood Township in Shela, alleged that the incident took place on April 27 near Landmark Hotel on Bopal Road.

In his complaint, Gedia stated that he had recently heard an audio recording on the phone of his fiancee, Niha Solanki, in which her colleague, identified as Vihar Solanki, allegedly used abusive and objectionable language while speaking to her regarding work matters.

Angered by the remarks, Gedia said he telephoned Solanki on April 27 and asked to meet him. When the latter allegedly refused, Gedia decided to go to Niha’s office at Zaveri Corporate House on Bopal Road to confront him.

Police said that while Gedia was speaking to his fiancee on the phone near Landmark Hotel, he was allegedly attacked from behind and knocked to the ground. He claimed that Solanki then struck him on the head with a stick, following which three unidentified men joined in the assault and beat him with sticks while hurling abuses.

The complainant further alleged that during the assault, the accused damaged his mobile phones and threatened to kill him if he was seen again.

Gedia sustained injuries to his head, wrist, chest, ribs and nose, with doctors at Sahyog Hospital reportedly indicating fractures to parts of his body. He was taken to the hospital by his fiance following the incident.

Police have registered a case against Vihar Solanki and three unidentified persons on charges including assault, criminal intimidation and causing grievous hurt.
