Madhu Shrivastav to contest independently from Vadodara’s Waghodia

With Lok Sabha Elections across the country, Gujarat is also preparing for bye elections in five of its seats. In Vadodara's Waghodia, former BJP MLA Madhu Srivastav has thrown his name in, making it a three-way contest for the seat.
In 2022, the seat saw a four-way contest, with a rebel candidate Dharmendrasinh Vaghela contested the seat as an independent candidate and won by 14,000 votes. BJP was pulled down by two independent candidates on the seat in 2022.
Now, Vaghela is the BJP candidate from the Waghodia seat. Congress has fielded Kanu Gohil, and now Madhu Srivastava has thrown in the towel. Srivastav is a controversial candidate.
He was expecting a candidature from Congress or BJP, however, with that out of the window, he has decided to run independently. Shrivastav reportedly stated that Vaghela has acquired a lot of land after becoming an MLA and that he is here for personal benefits, abandoning people behind for the BJP candidature.
