LS polls 2024: BJP, Congress, AAP candidates file nomination across Gujarat

Ahead of Lok Sabha and bye-election polls in Gujarat, BJP and Congress candidates flock to fill out nomination forms from various constituencies.

A total of 16 BJP candidates, 9 Congress candidates, and 1 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate filed their nominations on Apr 16.

According to the state’s chief electoral officer, a total of 97 Lok Sabha candidates filled out the form, while eight candidates filed nominations for Gujarat bye-elections.

A Congress contender, Sonal Patel against union home minister Amit Shah in Gandhinagar filed nomination for Lok Sabha polls on Apr 16. 

Other Congress leaders who filed their nominations include Amreli’s Jeni Thumar, Sukhram Rathwa from Chhota Udepur, Anant Patel from Valsad, Bharat Makwana from Ahmedabad West, Gulabsinh Chauhan from Panchmahal, Nitesh Lalan from Kutch, and Lalit Vasoya from Porbandar.

Amit Shah has scheduled his nomination filling, along with a public meeting and roadshow, on the last day of form filling, Apr 19.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will be done by the returning officer on Apr 20, and candidates will be advised to obtain acknowledgement and notice of scrutiny on Apr 22.
