LS polls 2024: 544 nomination forms filed in Gujarat
With 44 forms each, Ahmedabad East and Gandhinagar are the most sought-after seats

At the close of form filling in Gujarat, as many as 544 candidates have submitted their nominations ahead of the Lok Sabha 2024 elections.
The state will vote on May 7 to fill 26 Lok Sabha seats.
Of the total 544 candidates, 514 are men and 30 are women, as opposed to 527 men, 41 women, and one transgender candidate who filed nominations from Gujarat in 2019.
In 2019, 117 of the total 569 forms were cancelled and 81 were withdrawn, leaving 371 candidates to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
This year, candidates’ forms will be verified on Apr 20, and if a candidate wants to withdraw, they can do so till Apr 23, when all the candidates will be finalized.
Women candidates in Gujarat
A total of six women candidates are hoping to win the Bhavnagar seat. Meanwhile, four women filed their nomination paperwork to contest the Gandhinagar-Sabarkantha seat, three filed for Banaskantha, and two have the Kutch seat in their crosshairs.
At least one woman has filed nominations for Ahmedabad West, Amreli, Bardoli, Dahod, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Kheda, Navsari, Vadodara, and Valsad.
With 44 forms each, Ahmedabad East and Gandhinagar are the most sought-after seats, followed by Vadodara, with 39. Only nine forms were filed in Bardoli.
