The Kutch Police have arrested a 32-year-old man from Ludai village for allegedly posting social media content inspired by the ideology of the Islamic State (ISIS), officials said on Saturday.

The arrest was made by the Special Operations Group (SOG) following intelligence inputs from human and technical surveillance operations initiated after last year’s 'Operation Sindoor', a security exercise aimed at strengthening border vigilance in the district.

According to police, the accused has been identified as Fakirmamad Isa Gagda, a resident of Ludai in Kutch district.

Officials said preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly shared objectionable content on multiple social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, which appeared to promote or draw inspiration from ISIS ideology.

Police further stated that some of the posts allegedly included references to former ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and material linked to extremist propaganda, which investigators believe could pose a threat to national unity and integrity.

“The accused’s mobile phone has been seized, and old screenshots of objectionable posts made by him on various social media platforms have been recovered during the preliminary investigation,” a senior police officer said.

Officials added that investigators are now examining whether the accused had any links to extremist handlers, financial backing, or contact with foreign agents associated with ISIS.

Police said the probe remains at a preliminary stage and further digital forensic analysis is under way.
