Gujarat DySP files complaint alleging illegal occupation of Ahmedabad flat worth ₹95 lakh

A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) posted in the Gujarat Police has filed a complaint alleging that three women illegally occupied his flat in Ahmedabad’s Chandkheda area for over six years despite repeated requests to vacate the property.
According to the FIR, registered following directions from the Ahmedabad City Collector under the Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act, 2020, the complainant, Ashoksinh Galtubha Gohil, 49, currently serving at the Amreli police headquarters, alleged that the accused continued to occupy his flat in Sakal Residency without any legal agreement or payment of rent.
The complaint stated that Gohil, originally from Bhavnagar and presently residing in Amreli, had purchased Flat No E-201 in Sakal Residency near New CG Road, Chandkheda, in March 2020 from the previous owners, Pravinbhai Ramchandbhai Panchal and Madhuben Pravinbhai Panchal.
As per the FIR, the property, built on Final Plot No. 202/2 of Survey No. 653 in Chandkheda village under Town Planning Scheme No. 22, measures 61.82 square metres and is currently valued around ₹95 lakh.
Gohil stated that he had earlier stayed in the same flat as a tenant with his family while posted in Ahmedabad in 2012. He later purchased the property through a registered sale deed executed on March 20, 2020, at the Sub-Registrar’s Office in Vadaj.
The FIR alleged that after the purchase, the then occupants — identified as Jankiben Satyanarayan Mohrana, Jaliben Satyanarayan Mohrana and Ankitaben Satyanarayan Mohrana — requested temporary permission to stay in the flat till April 2020 as their daughters were studying in a nearby school and examinations were under way.
According to the complainant, the family allowed them to continue staying in the flat without rent or compensation on humanitarian grounds. However, the occupants allegedly failed to vacate the premises thereafter.
The complainant further stated that during the Covid-19 lockdown period, while he was posted as DySP in Bharuch district and was engaged in pandemic-related duties, he repeatedly asked the occupants over the phone to vacate the flat, but they allegedly refused.
The FIR also stated that the flat had been purchased through a home loan of ₹30 lakh from SBI along with ₹10 lakh from personal savings. Gohil alleged that despite paying regular loan instalments, he and his family were unable to use the property, which had originally been purchased for his son’s education.
The complaint further alleged that when relatives of the complainant approached the occupants asking them to vacate the house, they were threatened with false molestation complaints. It also referred to an earlier case filed in 2020 at Chandkheda Police Station by one of the accused against the previous owner.
According to the FIR, the accused neither possess ownership documents nor have any tenancy agreement with the complainant, yet have continued occupying the flat since April 2020.
Police said the complainant submitted property documents, tax bills, electricity bills, mortgage papers and other ownership records along with the complaint.
Following directions from the Collector’s office, a case has been registered and further investigation has been handed over to Assistant Police Commissioner D V Rana.
