Gujarat Coast on High Alert: Heavy Squalls, 60 Kmph Gusts to Impact South Gujarat Ports Through 2 August

The Ministry of Home Affairs’ Integrated Control Room for Emergency Response (ICR-ER) has issued a critical maritime warning for Gujarat following dangerous weather advisories from the India Meteorological Department. With severe squally conditions expected to batter the state’s coastal belt, fishermen across Gujarat have been strictly warned against venturing out into the ocean.

The State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) in Gujarat has been put on high alert to handle potential surge risks and manage emergency responses along the coastline.

South Gujarat Waters Brace for 60 Kmph Winds

According to official forecast data, while initial sea turbulence remains focused over central and northern Arabian Sea regions, conditions along Gujarat's coastline are set to deteriorate significantly starting Thursday, 30 July.

Squally weather featuring sustained wind speeds of 40 to 50 kmph, with gusts surging up to 60 kmph, is expected to prevail along and off the South Gujarat coast. The high-wind conditions will persist through Friday, 31 July, and Saturday, 1 August, creating severe hazards for localized navigation, fishing fleets, and port operations.

High Waves and Swell Surges: Coastal Activities Suspended

Beyond high-speed winds, the advisory warns of rising wave surges and dangerous swell activity that could trigger localized coastal erosion. Authorities have advised that small vessels refrain entirely from plying in these waters.

To ensure public safety and mitigate risks during this period of turbulent weather, local administrative bodies have been directed to enforce a total suspension of all nearshore recreational activities along affected beaches and waterfronts across South Gujarat.
