Gold jewellery worth ₹1.15 lakh stolen from house in Naranpura

The Naranpura Police Station has registered a case of house theft after gold jewellery worth ₹1.15 lakh was allegedly stolen from a residence in the Shastrinagar area of Ahmedabad.
According to the complaint filed by Dimpleben Chintubhai Kanojia, 38, a fashion designer residing near the old police line in Shastrinagar Vegetable Market, the theft came to light on the morning of May 16.
In her complaint, Dimpleben stated that she was at home when her 9-year-old daughter asked for colours for a colouring book. While searching for the items in her room, she noticed that the handle lock of a safe kept inside the room had been broken.
Upon checking the contents of the safe, she allegedly found that gold ornaments worth ₹1.15 lakh were missing. The stolen jewellery included two gold chains weighing around two tolas worth approximately ₹70,000, a pair of gold earrings valued at ₹17,500 and a gold ring worth ₹28,000.
Police said the complainant initially wanted to verify the missing valuables before approaching the authorities and later lodged a formal complaint after confirming the theft.
The investigation has been handed over to Naranpura Police Station and further inquiry into the theft is under way.
