Fire breaks out at medical store godown near Jodhpur BRTS stand in Ahmedabad

A fire broke out at a medical store godown near the Jodhpur BRTS bus stand in Ahmedabad on Sunday, triggering panic in the area and prompting a major firefighting operation.

According to officials, the blaze erupted suddenly in the godown located in the Jodhpur area and spread rapidly due to the presence of medicines and other medical supplies stored inside the premises.

Locals alerted the fire brigade soon after noticing the fire, following which four fire department vehicles were rushed to the spot.

Firefighters launched an intensive operation to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby structures and were seen spraying water from multiple sides to bring the situation under control.

Officials said no casualties had been reported in the incident so far.

However, substantial financial losses are feared as large quantities of medicines and medical equipment stored in the godown were reportedly destroyed in the fire.

The exact cause of the blaze has not yet been established. Preliminary suspicion points towards a possible short circuit, though officials said a detailed investigation would be conducted after the fire is fully extinguished.

The incident also affected traffic movement in the area as the godown is located close to the BRTS corridor.
