Election duty officer in Mehmedabad caught drunk, complaint filed

In a shocking incident during the ongoing local body elections in Gujarat, a presiding officer in Mehmedabad, Kheda district, was caught in an intoxicated state while on election duty on Sunday. The officer, identified as Virendra Bariya, was assigned to the new building of Mehmedabad Primary Girls’ School.
As soon as authorities were alerted about his condition, immediate action was taken. Bariya was promptly removed from duty, as his state disrupted the election process. A formal complaint has been registered against him at the Mehmedabad police station, and legal proceedings have been initiated.
Additionally, it has come to light that Bariya is also a lecturer at Raska Government Polytechnic in Kheda.
Kheda District Supply Officer Akshay Pargi, who is currently overseeing the elections, stated that senior officials were informed as soon as the matter was reported. Bariya was found intoxicated and was immediately handed over to the police for further action.
Authorities have assured that strict measures will be taken to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
