Days after union minister and BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Rajkot Parshottam Rupala’s statement on the Kshatriya community, the leader addressed a gathering and apologised to the community.

The troubles, however, refuse to cease for Rupala, as several Kshatriya leaders have not accepted his apology.

Today, Karni Sena national chief Raj Shekhawat has resigned as primary member of BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party). He also demanded cancellation of Rupala’s candidature. Shekhawat dubbed the Gondal convention held on Mar 29 as a BJP-centric event.

Rupala’s apology

After CR Patil instructed former Gondal MLA Jayrajsinh Jadeja for the damage control, Jadeja organised a meeting of Kshatriya community members and BJP leaders, including Rupala.

“Never in my life have I taken my words back after making a statement. The party suffered because of me; I apologise to the whole community,” said Rupala reportedly, folding his hands as he addressed the gathering of the Kshatriyas.

Meanwhile, women from the Kshatriya community took to the roads in Gondal, protesting Rupala’s apology.

A total of eight women from the community were detained by the police in Gondal.

Rajkot’s Nayanaba Jadeja and other Kshatriya community leaders expressed that only BJP leaders came together and compromised with Rupala. According to Jadeja, the entire Kshatriya community and office bearers of its 90 organisations are vehemently protesting and demanding the cancellation of Rupala’s candidature.

While the reconciliation meeting was going on, one more complaint was filed against Rupala in the Rajkot court on Mar 29.

Jaywantsinh Gohil filed a complaint against Rupala in Gadhada Junior Magistrate Court. Moreover, social media is also abuzz with audio and video files of Kshatriya women, refusing to accept Rupala’s apology.
