Problems for Rajkot seat candidate for Lok Sabha election Parshottam Rupala have piled up as erstwhile Lathi state descendent Adityasigh Gohil filed a complaint against him in Rajkot Court on Mar 28.

Gohil, a descendant of the Lathi state and a resident of Rajkot d filed a complaint under IPC 499 and 500 (defamation) regarding the viral video of Rupala’s derogatory comments against the Kshatriya community.

A Kshatriya convention in Rajkot has also been announced, according to Kshatriya leaders.

Kshatriya community meetings

A series of Kshatriya community meetings have been witnessed across the state since Rupala’s remarks.

Representatives from approximately 90 Kshatriya organisations convened at Rajput Samaj Bhawan near Botad Chowk, expressing vehement opposition towards Rupala and urging for the cancellation of her Lok Sabha candidacy.

PT Jadeja, leader of the Kshatriya community, asserted that despite political discussions on reconciliation, we have not made any efforts to comply with that. He emphasises that Rupala’s remarks were deliberate, and a mere apology won’t suffice; he demands that the BJP withdraw his Lok Sabha candidature.

A meeting of the Kshatriya community was held in Ahmedabad on Mar 28, where it was decided to avenge the BJP's Rupala through voting.

Complaint in Mehsana’s Unjha

The Kshatriya community’s protests have extended beyond Saurashtra, and the controversy has also enveloped Kshatriyas in north Gujarat as well.

A complaint has been filed at the police station in Unjha against Rupala.

Meanwhile, BJP state president CR Patil has fielded former Gondal MLA Jayarajsinh Jadeja to settle the controversy.

Jadeja is set to host a meeting at his farmhouse today in Rajkot, where delegates from the party and community will be present.

However, the Kshatriya community is not in compliance with any leader, according to reports. There has been a complaint against Rupala in the state election commission, after which the election commission has sought a report from the Rajkot collector.
