Chandipura Virus Cases Rise In Gujarat, Testing Intensified; 257 Suspected Cases, 27 Deaths

Gujarat has recorded 257 suspected cases of Chandipura virus so far, with 41 cases testing positive and 27 children dying from the infection, according to figures available till August 14.

The rise in suspected cases has prompted the state health authorities to step up testing and precautionary measures. Children, particularly those living in rural and forest-adjacent areas, are reportedly among those being affected by the virus.

11 Samples Awaited

Of the 257 suspected cases, test results for 246 samples have been received, while results of 11 samples are still pending.

The virus has led to several children falling ill and requiring hospitalisation. Health authorities have issued precautionary guidelines and increased testing to monitor the situation.

With the number of suspected cases continuing to rise, health officials are maintaining surveillance and taking preventive measures to contain the spread of Chandipura virus.
