Bengaluru Security Guard Detained Over Suspected TTP Terror Links

Bengaluru police have reportedly detained a 25-year-old security guard from West Bengal for allegedly conspiring with a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operative to join the terror group.

Asafool Mallik, a native of Naopara village in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, was reportedly picked up from Jigani near Bengaluru over suspicious online activities and alleged connections with militant outfits. Mallik had been reportedly residing near APC Circle in Jigani and working as a security guard at Tata Advanced Limited in the Jigani Industrial Area since December 2025.

Radicalisation and Afghan Visa Application

Patrol officers in the Bommasandra Industrial Area initially flagged Mallik's activities following specific intelligence.

During questioning, Mallik allegedly confessed to radical views and outlined his attempts to join foreign militants.

• Allegedly established contact on Facebook with Imran Haider, an Afghanistan-based operative believed to be associated with the TTP.
• Expressed anger over alleged Pakistani military atrocities against Muslims, including attacks on mosques and civilians, as well as Islamabad's stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
• Applied for a visa to travel to Afghanistan with Haider's assistance to fight the Pakistani army.
• Abandoned his travel plans later due to financial constraints and family responsibilities.
• Was allegedly urged by his contact to retaliate if Muslims faced difficulties in India.

Digital Evidence and Ongoing Probe

Investigating officers reportedly examined Mallik's mobile phone and recovered multiple text chats, logs of voice calls, and audio conversations between him and Haider.

Police are currently analysing the contents of the phone, including voice recordings and digital material, to determine the full extent of Mallik's network and intended plans.
