BJP membership drive stumbles amid growing external and internal discontent

BJP membership drive in Gujarat |
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ongoing membership drive is receiving a weak response, reportedly due to rising issues like inflation and unemployment across the nation.
Despite being in power, the party’s ambitious target of enrolling two crore new members has fallen far short of expectations.
Faced with challenges, the situation on the ground has made it impossible for ministers, MLAs, and MPs to meet their membership enrolment targets.
Numbers emerging from many constituencies indicate that the office bearers were not able to garner as many member registrations as the number of votes they received in the last election.
Currently, the membership drive is in its second phase, which will continue till October 15.
Insiders within the BJP have expressed dissatisfaction, suggesting that the party’s recruitment fairs may have backfired.
The party’s loyal and grassroots workers have confessed their feelings of being sidelined, while defectors from other parties keep securing key positions within the government and BJP.
In its drive to expand the number of family members, ‘Kamalam’, the BJP's state headquarters, is battling growing internal discontent and factionalism.
In response, the BJP’s state faction has sent directives to party headquarters, urging for more concerted efforts to accelerate the membership drive and meet targets before the campaign’s conclusion.
