According to police, the complainant, Moksharth Vora, a resident of Ramnagar in Sabarmati, works at a cloth showroom on Bopal Road. Around 9.15 am, he was returning home after purchasing milk from an Amul parlour located behind Smruti Mandir.
As he reached near the rear gate of Smruti Mandir, two men riding a black Pulsar motorcycle allegedly approached him from behind and snatched a gold chain weighing around 5.070 grams along with a diamond pendant from his neck before speeding away.
Caught off guard by the sudden attack, Vora reportedly raised an alarm, but the accused managed to flee within seconds.
The victim later checked CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity; however, the registration number of the motorcycle could not be clearly identified, police said.
Vora subsequently approached the Sabarmati police station along with his cousin and lodged a formal complaint. Police said further investigation is underway on the basis of the complaint and CCTV footage collected from the area.
