Bharuch ACB trap: Ankleshwar head constable caught accepting ₹25,000 bribe to unfreeze bank account

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has successfully trapped and arrested an Ankleshwar-based police head constable for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 to facilitate the unfreezing of a bank account that had been frozen in connection with a cybercrime matter.

The accused has been identified as Sunilbhai Ishwarbhai Parmar, Head Constable posted at Bhadkodra Police Chowki under Ankleshwar GIDC Police Station in Bharuch district.

According to the ACB, the complainant, a businessman, had his business-related bank account frozen by cybercrime authorities. The accused allegedly contacted the complainant multiple times over the phone and demanded a bribe for helping get the bank account unfrozen.

The ACB said the accused later met the complainant in person and allegedly demanded ₹25,000 to facilitate the unfreezing of the account.

As the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he approached the ACB through its toll-free helpline number 1064 and informed officials about the demand.

Following preliminary verification, the Vadodara City ACB Field Unit found the complaint to be genuine and organised a trap operation on June 24, 2026.

During the trap, the accused allegedly held a purpose-oriented conversation with the complainant and accepted the bribe amount of ₹25,000. ACB officials caught him red-handed while accepting the money.

The trap was carried out outside a shop near Patidar Rajwadi Tea Stall on the road from Valia Chokdi towards Bharuch in Ankleshwar.

The ACB stated that the accused prima facie appears to have misused his position as a public servant and committed criminal misconduct. Further questioning of the accused is currently underway.

The trap operation was conducted by A.N. Prajapati, Police Inspector, ACB Field, Vadodara, under the supervision of B.M. Patel, Assistant Director, ACB Vadodara Unit. The operation was overseen by Baldev Desai, IPS, Deputy Director, ACB Vadodara Range.
