Another Vadodara school receives bomb threat within 24 hours, students evacuated

Yet another school in Vadodara received a bomb threat via email on Tuesday, a day after Navrachana school received the same threat on Monday.

The latest threat was received at Gujarat Refinery English Medium School in Karadiya village of Vadodara on Tuesday morning.

As per the school principal, the email read, “A bomb has been planted in the school which can blast anytime."

The students were evacuated from the school immediately.

In response, Jawaharnagar police, accompanied by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and the Dog Squad, rushed to the school and swiftly cordoned off the premises. A thorough search operation ensued, lasting several hours, though no explosives were found.

The Vadodara Crime Branch has now taken over the investigation, particularly due to the alarming pattern emerging in these incidents. The threat came just a day after a similar hoax was reported at Navrachana school, raising serious concerns about the security of students and staff across the city.

'Umar Farooq' appears as sender of both Vadodara bomb threat mails

A significant lead for investigators is the identical name of the alleged sender in both emails 'Umar Farooq'. Police are now examining whether the same person is responsible for both threats, or if the name is being used as part of a wider campaign to spread fear and disruption.

On Monday, Navrachana Higher Secondary School in Vadodara’s Sama area received a bomb threat on Monday, the second time within four months.

The threat was made via an email, prompting an immediate suspension of all academic activities.

The bomb squad and police reached the spot and parents were called to pick up their children. Following the incident, Sama police, the bomb squad, and senior police officials arrived at the school and began checking the premises.
