AMC to pay ₹860 per house to contractors to keep mosquitoes at bay

Ahmedabad is witnessing steady progress in its bridge projects, with 15 bridges currently under construction across the city. Among these, the Vadaj Flyover and the historic Ellis Bridge are nearing completion.
At Vadaj Junction, work is underway to remove a section of the flyover towards the Income Tax area. Authorities have set a deadline to complete the project by the end of June. The four-lane flyover, approved in 2023 at a cost of over ₹107 crore, has been delayed, and officials have directed the contractor to speed up the work.
A proposed two-lane underpass between Dadhichi Bridge and Akhbarnagar has been put on hold at present due to issues related to Subhash Bridge.
Meanwhile, restoration work on Ellis Bridge is in progress and is expected to be completed by the end of August. Once completed, the bridge will be converted into a pedestrian-only space, with seating arrangements and greenery planned for public use. The project has been awarded to Rajkamal Builder Infrastructure at a cost of ₹26.78 crore.
Officials said that by the end of 2026, eight more flyovers and railway overbridges are expected to become operational in the city, which will help reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity.
