Allegations of favouritism emerged in the proposal made to the Amdavad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) buses for developing an application devised to show bus routes across the stops, as this contract is to be reportedly awarded to a private firm without any contractual agreement between the parties.
Five parties had expressed interest in developing this app, out of which the first lowest party, Cursor Soft pvt ltd, has been proposed to be awarded the work for ₹3.24 lakhs, excluding taxes.
This work is to be granted to the firm without any prior agreement or any security deposits.
It is noteworthy that the company was previously associated with projects related to Surat’s Sitilink bus services and Maharashtra’s state transport buses.
The approval of this proposal will be affirmed in the upcoming AMTS meeting on Mar 11.
Features of the proposed AMTS app
The GPS data installed in the buses will be used to display the city-wide route and list the bus stops on a map in the mobile app.
Journey planning details will be provided through this app, which will help the travellers navigate their distance from the nearest bus stop and the timings of the buses arriving there.
Although it is regarded as an ambitious project, driving the public transport infrastructure to prosperity, the department’s previous ventures had to be shut down without any substantial progress.
A hotline developed to attend to the passengers’ AMTS bus grievances on a dedicated WhatsApp chat yielded no results.
