A 69-year-old man living in Paldi and a resident of the USA was crushed by an Amdavad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) bus early in the morning of Mar 1.
According to reports, Jagat Dhalgara, originally a resident of the USA, was living in Yashovijay Flats with his wife Hemini near Paldi Bhatta of Ahmedabad.
On Mar 1, the Dhalgara couple had planned a trip to the Statue of Unity with their relatives. Due to their plans, the couple woke up early and at around 6 a.m., Jagat went to get the milk.
Near an Amul parlour in Sukhipura, an AMTS bus ran over Jagat, fatally injuring him.
Concerned over his delayed return, his wife dialled his number a few times, but with no answer. Finally, a stranger picked up the call and informed her about the accident.
Paldi N division traffic police registered a case against the AMTS bus driver, and a probe has been initiated.
