The Ahmedabad Traffic Police has introduced a new traffic management plan at the heavily congested Nana Chiloda Circle in an effort to ease long-standing traffic snarls in the eastern part of the city.

The junction, regarded as one of the main entry points into Ahmedabad, witnesses lakhs of vehicles every day and has long been notorious for severe congestion, particularly during peak hours.

As part of the revised traffic arrangement, police have closed two major cuts near the circle that were identified as key bottlenecks disrupting vehicle flow.

To facilitate smoother movement, a new cut has been created around 200 metres ahead on the road leading towards Naroda GIDC. Another alternative route has been opened on the left side beneath the bridge for motorists travelling from Nana Chiloda towards the Ring Road.

Officials said the changes were implemented following consultations with traffic and infrastructure experts aimed at redesigning vehicle movement at the junction.

The city police commissioner also visited the circle, and during the inspection, he reviewed traffic flow on the ground and issued instructions to officials.

According to police, the revised arrangements have already improved vehicle movement at the junction. Areas that previously witnessed delays of 20 to 30 minutes during rush hours are now reportedly seeing smoother traffic flow.
