Ahmedabad man booked for assaulting neighbour with iron rod, sharp weapon after domestic dispute

A 43-year-old man was allegedly assaulted with an iron rod and a sharp-edged weapon by his neighbour following an argument over a domestic dispute in the Amraiwadi area of Ahmedabad.

According to police, the incident took place around 6.15 pm on April 23 near a two-wheeler garage, opposite National Handloom in Amraiwadi.

Lovejibhai Nanjibhai Sumesra, a photographer residing in Gulabnagar, alleged that his neighbour Bharatbhai Jayeshbhai Makwana, who also lives in the same residential premises, approached him and confronted him over remarks allegedly made by the complainant’s wife about the accused’s wife.

Police said the verbal altercation soon escalated, during which the accused allegedly abused the complainant and attacked him with a hammer-like iron object. He then allegedly took out a sharp weapon resembling an iron blade and struck the complainant on the forehead, causing a bleeding injury.

The victim’s friend, along with local residents, intervened to stop the assault. Before fleeing the spot, the accused allegedly threatened to kill the complainant and his wife if the matter was not “explained” to them.

The injured man was shifted to LG Hospital in a 108 ambulance, where he received medical treatment for his injuries. Police said he was discharged after outpatient treatment.

Amraiwadi police have registered an FIR against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons, criminal intimidation and related offences.

Police said further inquiry is under way and statements of witnesses are being recorded.
