Ahmedabad has geared up for Census 2027 with Massive Training Drive and Digital Self-Enumeration appointing 12,000 enumerators and 2,000 supervisors. Training sessions for all personnel are under way at schools and community halls across AMC’s 48 wards.

According to officials, around 7,500 personnel have been trained so far, with the entire training programme scheduled for completion by May 21, 2026. The trained teams will then conduct the first phase of the census — household listing and house numbering — from June 1 to 30, 2026.

In a significant first for the national census, the Government of India has introduced a Self Enumeration portal (https://se.census.gov.in) enabling citizens to voluntarily submit their household details online. Residents can conveniently provide information regarding their houses, available amenities, assets, and other relevant data through a simple, secure digital interface.

In Gujarat, the self-enumeration window is open from May 17 to 31, 2026. This citizen-friendly initiative aims to enhance participation, improve data accuracy, and reduce the burden on field enumerators.

Following the self-enumeration phase, door-to-door data collection for House Listing Operations will commence across Gujarat from June 1 to 30, 2026. Census functionaries will use a specially designed Houselisting Mobile Application (HLO App) to record information efficiently and accurately during field visits.

The exercise forms a vital part of the nationwide Census 2027, which will provide essential socio-economic data for planning and development initiatives. State officials have urged citizens to utilise the self-enumeration portal during the designated period to ensure smoother operations and higher data quality.
