A summer vacation trip to Kashmir turned tragic for families from Ahmedabad after a tourist vehicle skidded off the road and plunged nearly 15 feet into a gorge near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Two tourists from Ahmedabad died in the accident, while two others sustained serious injuries.

According to preliminary information, families from New Vadaj, Ghatlodia and nearby areas of Ahmedabad had travelled to Kashmir for a holiday and were scheduled to return on May 20. On Saturday evening, the group had hired four vehicles for sightseeing in Pahalgam.

During the journey on the Pahalgam-Aru route, one of the vehicles reportedly went out of control, causing the car to fall into a deep gorge.

The deceased were identified as Bhavin Bhavsar, a resident of Ghatlodia, and Nayanaben Bhavsar, a resident of Bhimjipura.

Bhavin’s wife Avniben sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Srinagar. Their 12-year-old child, who was travelling with them, survived the accident unharmed.

Ashokbhai Bhavsar, husband of deceased Nayanaben, also suffered serious injuries and reportedly underwent surgery at a Srinagar hospital. The local driver of the vehicle also sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The incident has left relatives and family members in Ahmedabad devastated. Authorities in Kashmir have initiated legal formalities and are coordinating efforts to transport the bodies of the deceased and assist the injured victims in returning to Ahmedabad.
