The Kalupur Police Station has registered a criminal breach of trust and cheating case against a parcel delivery employee accused of absconding with gold jewellery, silver bullion and diamond parcels collectively valued at more than ₹80 lakh that were meant to be delivered to Bhuj and Gandhidham.
According to the complaint filed by businessman Ankitbhai Pravinbhai Parekh, 32, owner of H Pravin Kumar & Co operating from Nagar Sheth Market in Ahmedabad, the accused, identified as Jigar Singh Dashrath Singh Vihol, disappeared along with several valuable consignments entrusted to him for delivery.
Police said Parekh, a resident of Ranip, runs a jewellery parcel and logistics business with nearly 12 branches across Gujarat. The firm’s main operations are located in the Ratanpol and Kalupur jewellery market area.
According to a police official, the accused, a resident of Vihol village in Vadnagar taluka of Mehsana district, had recently been hired by the company on May 1, 2026, to collect and deliver parcels on behalf of jewellers and bullion traders.
The complaint stated that on May 6, several consignments containing gold ornaments, silver bullion, diamonds, pearls and collectible coins were received by the firm for delivery to traders in Bhuj and Gandhidham.
Among the consignments allegedly entrusted to the accused were nearly 30 kilograms of silver bullion valued at approximately ₹73 lakh, along with multiple parcels of gold jewellery and diamond items belonging to jewellery firms.
Police said the parcels included consignments from Kutchhi Jewellers, Ameza Jewellers, KD Creation, Om Sai Agency, Jai Bhole, Mehul Gems, Classical Numismatic Gallery, Gold Roof Diamonds, R D Gems and Tara Fine Jewellers.
Investigators said the total estimated value of the missing parcels was approximately ₹80.51 lakh.
On May 6 around 9.30 pm, a company employee identified as Jayantibhai Patel allegedly accompanied the accused to the Paldi office of Sahajanand Travels and placed him on a bus travelling from Ahmedabad to Bhuj.
Police said the accused boarded a bus along with the consignments and was expected to deliver the parcels to company representatives in Kutch.
However, the matter came to light on the morning of May 7 when another employee, Natwarji Rajput, reached Jubilee Circle in Bhuj to receive the parcels and escort the accused. The accused allegedly failed to arrive at the designated location.
The complainant stated that repeated attempts to contact the accused on his mobile phone proved unsuccessful, as the device remained switched off. Police said the accused has remained untraceable since then and neither the parcels nor the valuables have been recovered.
Based on the complaint, Kalupur police have initiated legal proceedings and launched an investigation into the alleged misappropriation and disappearance of the valuables.
Investigators are examining travel records, mobile phone data and CCTV footage from transport terminals to trace the accused’s movements after he left Ahmedabad.
Police officials suspect that the accused may have fled with the consignments after pre-planning the offence, though they are also probing whether any accomplices were involved in the alleged fraud.
