As the general elections are around the corner and the BJP held a meeting to finalise the list of candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, sources revealed that new candidates are likely to replace 80 old candidates of the party.

As per sources, the names of at least three candidates have been nominated for the seat in each state. The Central Election Committee (CEC), which was held on Feb 29, will discuss these names and is likely to release them today.

Under the party’s much-anticipated ‘no-repeat policy’, around 80 candidates are not likely to contest the elections again.

Sources said that the list of nominated candidates includes Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and former Rajasthan minister Rajendra Rathore. As per the report, recently dropped members of parliament won’t receive a second chance in the Lok Sabha; instead, new faces will be given opportunities.

Candidates who may lose their tickets include UP’s Santosh Gangwar, Prayagraj MP Prof Rita Bahuguna Joshi, and other leaders aged more than 70.
