Monsoon Active Over Gujarat: Amirgadh, Daskroi and Palanpur Lead Morning Downpours Across 117 Talukas

A fresh spell of monsoon activity swept across several parts of Gujarat on Monday morning, bringing steady showers to at least 117 talukas between 6.00 am and 12.00 pm. Amirgadh in Banaskantha district recorded the morning’s highest rainfall, registering 42 mm (1.65 inches), closely followed by Daskroi in Ahmedabad district with 39 mm (1.54 inches) and Palanpur with 38 mm (1.50 inches).

Data released by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) in Gandhinagar highlights widespread light-to-moderate precipitation spanning northern, central, and southern Gujarat, as well as parts of Saurashtra.

Banaskantha and Central Belt Bear the Brunt

The morning precipitation was particularly pronounced across Banaskantha, Kheda, and the peripheral talukas of Ahmedabad. In Amirgadh, the bulk of the downpour hit between 8.00 am and 10.00 am when 40 mm of rain fell within two hours. Palanpur experienced a sustained spell, gathering 20 mm between 8.00 am and 10.00 am, and an additional 17 mm in the subsequent two-hour window. Deesa also noted 24 mm of rainfall early in the morning.

Central Gujarat saw consistent rainfall patterns. Mehmedabad in Kheda district logged 37 mm (1.46 inches), primarily during the early morning hours between 6.00 am and 8.00 am. Other talukas in Kheda, including Kathlal (31 mm) and Thasra (30 mm), also experienced significant spells. Meanwhile, Khambhat in Anand district registered 30 mm.

Ahmedabad District and Coastal South See Active Spells

In Ahmedabad district, rural and suburban pockets picked up higher totals than the urban core. While Ahmedabad City logged a modest 19 mm (0.75 inches) mostly during the 6.00 am to 8.00 am window outlying talukas recorded heavier showers. Daskroi topped the district with 39 mm, followed by Dholera with 35 mm, Dholka with 33 mm, and Dhandhuka with 32 mm.

Southern Gujarat and Saurashtra experienced intermittent heavy spells. Nanapondha in Valsad district recorded 33 mm, with 29 mm falling between 8.00 am and 10.00 am. Kaprada logged 24 mm later in the morning. In the Saurashtra region, Chuda taluka in Surendranagar district stood out with 32 mm, while Vallabhipur in Bhavnagar registered 17 mm.
