A fresh complaint has been registered against social media content creator Tamanna Syed and her husband Sohail Syed, with a cafe owner alleging that the couple threatened to name his establishment in connection with alleged drug sales unless he paid ₹2 lakh.
The complaint, registered at Sayajiganj Police Station, comes amid two other cases involving the couple over alleged extortion, blackmail and the circulation of a purported drug-related video.
Cafe Owner Alleges Threat Over Drug Video
According to the complaint filed by Mohammad Zaid Sheikh, who runs Invisible Cafe from a rented premises at Lakshya Apartment in Fatehganj, Tamanna allegedly uploaded a video on August 3 claiming that MD drugs were being sold at a cafe in the area.
Sheikh said he contacted Tamanna after obtaining her phone number and told her that no such activity was taking place at his cafe.
According to the complaint, Tamanna allegedly did not disclose the name of the cafe but threatened to reveal it unless Sheikh paid ₹2 lakh. He further alleged that her husband Sohail also joined the conversation and threatened him.
Sayajiganj Police have registered a case against Tamanna and Sohail and begun an investigation.
Third Complaint Against Couple
The latest case is the third complaint involving the couple in connection with their social media activities and alleged blackmail.
Earlier, Jaypee Road Police had registered a case against Tamanna and Sohail after a complainant, Arif, alleged that they demanded ₹12 lakh at 22 per cent interest and subsequently sought another ₹3 lakh while threatening to make public a video linking him to a drug case. The investigation was later handed over to the Crime Branch, and the couple was reportedly remanded for seven days.
Separately, the Special Operations Group (SOG) and Cyber Cell had registered a case against Tamanna over allegations that she circulated a false video that could create hatred in society and allegedly did not cooperate with police, purportedly to increase her social media following.
The latest complaint is now being investigated by Sayajiganj Police.
